ZUMA

  • Text: Anastasiya Levushkina

If Vladivostok is a city at the edge of the world with an aura of the exotic and multi-ethnic, then Zuma is the restaurant that best captures Vladivostok. Fish and seafood have a place of honor on the menu, cooked in the culinary traditions of Thailand, Laos, China, Vietnam, Korea, Malaysia, Japan and Singapore. The menu offers king crab, oysters, mussels, and scallops...If you don't try them, then you haven't been to Vladivostok.

RULE NUMBER ONE

Reserve a table in advance. The restaurant is popular among the citizens, and it's likely even the bar will be full. However, in this case you can sit by the open kitchen and watch how your order is prepared.

RULE NUMBER TWO

Stock up on patience: Zuma has an extensive menu with many photos. They offer European cuisine in addition to pan-Asian and they have a large dessert offering.

There is a dish for everyone: from timid gourmet neophytes, to culinary thrill-seekers. The unusual taste of sea urchin roe sashimi, the sharpness of Tom Kha soup, and the balance of the restaurant's signature Zum Zum rolls coexist with thick steaks and familiar favorites like tiramisu and napoleons. The chef's dishes have very entertaining names - you hear "Darling, I'll Call You Back!" - thinking your neighbor at the next table is talking on his mobile. But no, he was ordering a dish with the same name: a wok of lamb tenderloin from executive chef, Egor Anisimov.

RULE NUMBER THREE

Choose the right location. The secluded tables are deep in the halls on the first and second floors. In summer the Zuma Patio opens: a delicate, bright veranda with orchids, a retractable roof and glass walls. For a more boisterous group, Zuma Karaoke is straight ahead for tastings of their signature cranberry shots accompanied by your favorite songs.

THE FOURTH AND LAST RULE

In the East, a half-hour leisurely stroll is recommended after a meal. It is just three minutes on foot from the restaurant to the seafront at Sportivnaya Gavan, where breathtaking sunsets await. Zuma - verified by the residents of Vladivostok, approved by the Ministry of Health.
